Award of Excellence

I was so excited this past weekend to receive the award of Excellence at the Lexington Art League show at Equus Run Vineyards. The award of excellence is their version of Best in Show. Here I am in my booth, pictured with the sponsor of the award. It was so wonderful that so many people came from all over town to the countryside to support artists. To see people get really excited about what I’m making,…

Inspirations

It has been a while since I posted anything that I’ve been looking at to inspire my work lately. I have been dipping a toe into making bigger work. Mostly because I feel so uncomfortable with it. Since being out of school, there has been no one to push me out of my comfort zone, so I have to be my own critic and mentor. I have been thinking about the balance between sculpture and…

On the Road Again

The 2013 show season has officially started! I am so excited to show off my new designs, and get to go trade with other artists. That is one of my favorite things about doing art fairs, is doing some shopping of my own.  One artist I remember particularly from last season is Helen Gotlib. She makes big drawings that are both incredibly detailed, but leave a lot to the imagination. Here is one of her…

I took my camera on a stroll in the  Asheville Botanical Gardens yesterday. Sometimes I get frustrated with myself that I am not overflowing with new designs and collection ideas. Especially here in Asheville, where everyone always seems to be coming up with some new brilliant masterpiece. So I decided to be sweet to myself and step out of jewelry for an afternoon, and be a noticer rather than a maker. Here are some photos…

New Year New Work

Happy New Year! I have been puttering around the studio making samples in copper of little wispy ideas that are hanging around in my head. Possible new designs. none of them are anything substantial yet, but it’s wonderful to play, and have a whole collection of wonky copper characters on my bench.

Crafty Feast

It is my last show of the season tomorrow! It has been a wonderful year. Of course, I’m already getting my gears turning  about all the new projects I want to start for next year. But right now I get to just slow down and celebrate the holidays at the Crafty Feast in Columbia, South Carolina. See you there!
