World of Gems November 28, 2016 – Posted in: Uncategorized

I went to the gem show with Erin a few weeks ago. It was way more incredible than I thought it would be. I got so excited about all the beautiful faceted stones, particularly the subtle rosecut ones that feel gentle and friendly to me. I’ve been wondering for years where people find the more organic-shaped unique stones. I never thought of going to the gem show because gem show professionals told me the one here in town is no good. But for me, someone who hasn’t been to the Tuscon Gem Show (the motherlode of all gem fairs) this was plenty exciting.

I feel pumped up to go to studio and see what ideas come to me. Yes, I was dottedpinkearringsaway from studio for three hours when I went on this excursion, but what a world of difference in my enthusiasm for making because of those three hours out. I am reminded that everything in life in furtherance of studio life. The experiences I have inform what I make. So I must remind myself again, don’t feel bad for going on vacation, or taking a morning off to see beautiful things because it all filters through to the work in the end.
