This is my favorite piece I have ever made. I am brainstorming how to make more of them  for people without having a plaster cast of their hand with me the whole time.

The occult in modern art

I have been engrossed in this wonderful website Phantasaphile. It curates all sorts of contemporary-ish art that celebrates the occult. One of my favorite artists I found there was Hunter Stabler. Totally amazing graphite drawings and cut paper.

Here is a sampling of new pieces I’m making for Valentine’s day, as well as new pieces for 2012. A fellow River Arts Districter Alex Greenwood made these glass pieces for me. I hope to be able to learn how to do them myself someday. I’m experimenting with filling them with different herbs.

peace and quiet

It feels so wonderful to be at home, watching the snow today and planning my collection for 2012. Over the last month or so, i’ve been collecting images that I know will be helpful when I’m designing. Here are a few of them. I’m particularly drawn to these wall pods by ceramicist Alice Ballard. I saw the acorn candles on etsy and am hunting around to make some of my own.

In a few weeks I’m heading down to Savannah Georgia for a swanky show at the Telfair Art Museum. I’m preparing by happily making a few one of a kind pieces. Here are some, along with a production piece I’m excited about, the copper moon.

The leaves are just starting to turn here in Asheville. It has inspired me to use all sorts of colors I’m not usually  drawn to-deep yellows and oranges. Here are some pieces with carnelian and tourmaline, and my best selling enamel earrings with golden yellow

Louisville here I come!

I am gearing up for a huge art show in Louisville KY next weekend. I’m going to be in the 3rd street section of the show, so come visit! Saint James Court Art Festival is actually where I got my start making jewelry. I used to enamel little copper shapes and make them into pins that I would sell for 2.00 next to my mother’s booth.
